Following this, an additional $50 million was allocated for Fiscal Year 2024 and another $6 million for Fiscal Year 2025, along with $28 million in the Amended Fiscal Year 2024. Let’s Dive into Individual Grant Details

City of Cairo

The city has been awarded $2.5 million in OneGeorgia funds. This money will be used for necessary road, water, and sewer improvements to help construct 180 new single-family homes on a sprawling 45 acres. The project will start with a phased construction of 60 homes, and Cairo is putting in an additional $227,078 to support the initiative.
City of Hagan

Hagan is joining the party with a grant of $1,074,711 for improving the street, drainage, water, and sewer systems. This project will pave the way for 29 single-family homes on six acres, with the city contributing $62,241.
Douglas Coffee County Industrial Authority

They received $2.5 million to enhance infrastructure for 67 new housing units across 36 acres. The first phase will include 40 single-family homes, with further contributions from the Industrial Authority of $83,750 and the city of Douglas at $288,813.
Augusta Economic Development Authority

This Authority sought $2.5 million for making improvements to roads and utilities in order to develop 55 new single-family homes on 11.5 acres. There are even plans for future phases that would add another 104 units and some commercial developments! Augusta Utilities is helping out with a $110,000 contribution.
City of Swainsboro

Lastly, Swainsboro has secured $2.5 million for infrastructure improvements in the Rolling Oaks Subdivision spanning 23 acres. Initially, 24 housing units will be constructed, eventually expanding to accommodate a total of 47 homes. The city is chipping in with $102,000, alongside additional funds from the developer.
