The Augusta GreenJackets, the Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, are set to hold the first-ever Guns ‘N’ Hoses Softball Tournament on Sunday, May 4, at SRP Park. This special event aims to celebrate the contributions of first responders while raising funds for FireK, a nonprofit organization that supports firefighting families dealing with cancer-related financial challenges.
Six emergency service and law enforcement teams from the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) will compete in the tournament. The event will kick off with gates opening at 9 a.m., followed by the first game between North Augusta Public Safety and Augusta Fire at 9:30 a.m. Each game is scheduled to last one hour or seven innings, with the championship game slated for 6:30 p.m.
Tickets for the tournament are priced at $10 plus fees, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to FireK. Attendees can look forward to concessions available throughout the day, as well as the opportunity to shop at The Hive Pro Shop, which will operate from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Guns ‘N’ Hoses Softball Tournament aims not only to entertain but also to honor the dedication and hard work of first responders in the community. Catie Graf, the GreenJackets Director of Marketing, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to host such an important event and support the heroes who serve the community. This tournament is also part of a series of events leading up to First Responders Night at SRP Park on May 20, where the GreenJackets will face off against the Charleston RiverDogs.
The tournament will feature multiple games played by law enforcement and fire service teams, helping to foster camaraderie and community spirit. Community sponsors supporting both the softball tournament and First Responders Night include Aurubis Richmond, Bridgestone, Floor & Décor, Prosser’s Septic Tank Services, and Samson’s/Galaxy Distribution.
FireK is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing support to firefighting families who are facing financial difficulties due to cancer-related issues. Through events like the Guns ‘N’ Hoses Softball Tournament, the organization aims to raise awareness and funds to help those in need, thereby uplifting the families who sacrifice so much in public service roles.
As the Augusta GreenJackets prepare for this unique event, the community is encouraged to come out, show support for local first responders, and participate in a day of fun and fundraising. More information about the event and ticket purchases can be found on the Augusta GreenJackets’ official website.
