Publix Supermarkets has expanded its presence in Georgia with the opening of two new locations in Jasper and Sharpsburg over the past month. The supermarket chain continues to strengthen its footprint in the southeastern United States amid a broad expansion strategy.
The first of the two stores opened in Jasper at Gateway Crossing, located at 178 Virginia Way, on April 9. This supermarket covers an area of 48,387 square feet, providing ample space for a wide range of grocery and household items. The second location opened in Sharpsburg at Fischer Marketplace, situated at 4957 Hwy 34 East, and it mirrors the same size as the Jasper store, also spanning 48,387 square feet. The Sharpsburg store welcomed its first customers on April 23.
With these latest openings, Publix aims to cater to the growing demand for grocery options within these areas. The addition of these stores brings Publix’s total number of supermarkets in Georgia to 219, although it’s unclear if the newly opened locations are accounted for in this figure. The company has made significant investments in Georgia, which also includes a distribution center in Dacula and a baking plant located in Atlanta.
Totaling 12 new locations opened nationwide since March 5, Publix is aggressively adding stores across various states. New stores have been launched as far north as Kentucky and Virginia, and as far south as Florida. Upcoming openings are planned for locations in North Carolina and another in Florida, reflecting the supermarket chain’s commitment to meeting customer needs in diverse regions.
As of now, there are already eight Publix stores in the Savannah area alone, comprising five in the city of Savannah, two in Pooler, and one in Richmond Hill. The expansion in Jasper and Sharpsburg further reinforces Publix’s goal of establishing a comprehensive grocery store network throughout Georgia, providing residents with convenient access to fresh produce and essential goods.
Established as a staple of the American grocery market, Publix has built a reputation for quality products and excellent customer service. The company’s ongoing expansion efforts highlight its strategy of enhancing accessibility to its offerings within communities across the southeastern United States.
