The No. 48 Augusta University women’s tennis team was eliminated from the Peach Belt Conference Tournament after suffering a 4-1 defeat to No. 28 Georgia College in the quarterfinals on April 26, 2025. This loss brings Augusta’s season record to 13-7, and the team is now waiting for the NCAA Tournament selection to find out if their season will continue.
The match took place at the John W. Walden Tennis Center in Columbus and was part of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, which runs from April 25-27, 2025. Augusta entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed, while Georgia College was the No. 4 seed.
Georgia College secured an early advantage by claiming the doubles point. The No. 2 doubles pairing of Julieta Palma and Priscilla Landi faced a defeat with a score of 3-6, followed by the No. 3 team of Camila Taborga and Giovanna Patrocinio, which also lost 3-6. The No. 1 doubles match featuring Andrea Gonzalez and Juliana Martinez was left unfinished when the match was called.
In singles play, Augusta gained one point thanks to Camila Taborga, who won her match at No. 5 singles with a score of 6-1, 6-4. However, Georgia College clinched the overall match by winning at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 4 singles. Juliana Martinez fell at No. 1 singles with a score of 2-6, 1-6. Luciana Bejarano lost her match at No. 3 singles, finishing 5-7, 3-6, and Priscilla Landi was defeated at No. 4 singles with a score of 1-6, 0-6.
The remaining singles matches at No. 2 and No. 6 were left unfinished, with Andrea Gonzalez split in sets at No. 2 and Giovanna Patrocinio involved in a competitive match at No. 6 when play was halted.
The Peach Belt Conference Tournament, hosted by Columbus State University, brought together the top teams in the conference, providing a platform for competition and showcasing the talents of collegiate tennis players.
