Augusta, GA – Louise G. Scott, a cherished member of the Augusta community, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025. The family will hold funeral services on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory. Following the service, interment will take place at Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.
Louise Scott was a dedicated community member whose impact was felt in various aspects of life in Augusta. A graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, she later devoted her career to public service, retiring from Gracewood, a facility known for its care for individuals with disabilities. Her life was characterized by her commitment to her family and her contributions to her community.
She is survived by her son, Michael Collins; her daughter, Cherel Walton, and her husband, Tony Walton; her brother, John Grier; and her sisters, Elizabeth and Judy Grier. Louise also leaves behind five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who will remember her as a loving and nurturing figure. Additionally, a wide circle of family members and friends mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a viewing on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, located at 1765 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Augusta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to be made in Louise’s memory to a forest in need. These memorial contributions can serve to honor her love for nature and her desire to give back to the community.
