Augusta – An investigation is underway following an assault incident that occurred on Sunday, April 13 at Logan’s Roadhouse in Augusta, Georgia. The incident was reported at approximately 6:25 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to the restaurant located at 269 Robert C Daniel Jr Pkwy.
The victim of the assault, Jeanna Matthews, reported that the altercation began when a fellow patron, Alicia Patrick, expressed dissatisfaction with her alcoholic drink, which led to the drink being removed from the table. Matthews stated that Patrick became aggressive and used profanity while demanding that the drink be corrected. Consequently, both Patrick and a male companion were asked to leave the establishment.
Despite being asked to exit, witness accounts indicated that Patrick followed Matthews to the back of the restaurant, where the confrontation escalated. Matthews insisted that Patrick needed to leave, at which point Patrick allegedly punched Matthews in the face before exiting the restaurant. Another patron, Ginger Hutto, attempted to record Patrick’s vehicle tag number during the incident. Hutton reported that Patrick reversed her vehicle in a potential attempt to strike her before driving away.
Witness Ernest Clayborn observed the scene and confirmed that prior to the physical confrontation, he saw a black female yelling at Patrick. After the incident, deputies were dispatched to a nearby residence on Richmond Hill Rd W at 7:09 p.m. to speak with Patrick. When confronted, Patrick claimed that her drinks were improperly made and that she had found a bug in her salad while dining at Logan’s Roadhouse. She accused Matthews of having an attitude but denied any physical assault, suggesting that Matthews had bumped into her instead.
Deputies who responded to Matthews at the restaurant were unable to confirm the presence of any injuries at the time. Additionally, security footage capturing the incident was not available for review. Matthews was advised to follow up with law enforcement for further investigation once video evidence becomes accessible.
This incident is currently under investigation, with local law enforcement continuing to seek additional witnesses or evidence that can shed light on the events that transpired during the altercation at Logan’s Roadhouse. The local community is urged to report any relevant information related to the incident as the investigation progresses.
