Augusta – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Ricardo Sanchez Daggett, the third suspect in connection with a murder case that dates back three years. Daggett, who reportedly has been evading law enforcement, was apprehended during a routine traffic stop on Royal Street in Augusta.
Daggett was wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of 46-year-old Ahmed Jabari Hill Sr., which took place on November 20, 2022, in the 3500 block of Tullocks Hill Drive. He faces charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force collaborated with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division to execute the arrest.
This arrest follows the capture of two other suspects in the case, Stephanie Overton and Angel Burley, who were taken into custody shortly after the murder occurred. At the time of her arrest, Overton was employed as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Lake Forest Hills Elementary School. She, too, has been charged with murder.
The family of Ahmed Jabari Hill Sr. has been informed of Daggett’s arrest, providing them with a measure of closure in a case that has drawn significant attention and concern from the community.
In a related development, Terry McClennon, a 19-year-old from Waynesboro, was arrested on charges stemming from the January armed robbery and murder of Abdallah Rubeha, a 29-year-old smoke shop employee. Rubeha was found deceased on January 11, 2023, at the Augusta Smoke Shop located at 2303 Lumpkin Road. McClennon was apprehended while hiding in an apartment on the 800 block of Spruce Street after months of evading law enforcement.
McClennon faces serious charges including malice murder, three counts of felony murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was taken into custody with outstanding warrants for murder and various other charges from different law enforcement agencies, and he is now being held at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
During the course of the investigation into the vape shop shooting, two additional suspects, Antwan Herndon and Terrance Remon Walker, both aged 22, were also arrested. Their involvement in the case highlights the complexity and danger associated with violent crime in the area.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized the importance of partnerships with federal law enforcement agencies, stating that collaborative efforts are crucial for maintaining public safety and ensuring justice is served for victims of past crimes. The return of suspects in both the Augusta murder and the vape shop shooting speaks to the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to address these issues, despite the challenges in apprehending individuals involved in violent acts.
In unrelated news, a recent hit-and-run incident resulted in the death of a pedestrian, with a driver now in custody as per reports by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. This incident is under investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as authorities continue to gather information.
