A third suspect, Terry McClennon, has been arrested in connection with the murder of smoke shop employee Abdallah Rubeha, shot during a robbery in January. McClennon’s apprehension follows months of evasion and adds to the total of three suspects arrested. He faces multiple charges, including malice murder and armed robbery, as authorities continue to investigate this violent crime impacting the Augusta community.
A third suspect, Terry McClennon, 19, of Waynesboro, has been taken into custody in connection with the murder of Abdallah Rubeha, a smoke shop employee shot during an armed robbery at Augusta Smoke Shop on January 10. McClennon’s arrest took place on May 11 after he was located hiding in an apartment on the 800 block of Spruce Street.
Abdallah Rubeha, 29, was found critically injured on the smoke shop floor during the incident and succumbed to his injuries shortly after. The Richmond County Coroner’s Office confirmed his death at approximately 7:35 a.m. on January 11.
McClennon had been evading law enforcement for several months and had outstanding warrants for murder prior to his arrest. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office deputies apprehended him without incident, bringing to three the total number of individuals arrested in relation to Rubeha’s murder.
Upon his arrest, McClennon was charged with malice murder, three counts of felony murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a first offender. His co-accused are Antwan Herndon, 22, also from Waynesboro, and Terrance Remon Walker, 22, from Keysville, both of whom were arrested previously in connection to the case.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office have been working collaboratively on the ongoing investigation, which included a vehicle pursuit that escalated to a foot chase just hours following the crime. Law enforcement reported recovering a black Taurus G2C 9mm handgun and other items believed to have been stolen during the robbery.
The armed robbery occurred at approximately 2303 Lumpkin Road, where Abdallah Rubeha was shot while on duty at the smoke shop. The investigation has revealed that the suspects’ actions not only led to Rubeha’s untimely death but also sparked considerable community concern regarding safety and the prevalence of violent crime.
As the investigation unfolds, additional details about potential charges for the suspects are anticipated. Authorities remain committed to ensuring justice for Rubeha and addressing the violent crime that has impacted the Augusta community.
