Savannah, Georgia – The Georgia Film Academy (GFA) is offering a summer course titled GFA 1000/FILM 1100 Introduction to Film & Television Production on the Savannah State University campus. This course is now open for enrollment to students from various institutions, including Savannah State University, Georgia Southern University, College of Coastal Georgia, East Georgia State College, Ogeechee Technical College, and community members through GFA’s Professional Education program.

This introductory course provides critical foundational knowledge needed for on-set film production, covering essential industry-standard equipment, techniques, and procedures. Designed as a six-credit-hour course, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills critical for contributing to professional film sets.

Introduction to Film & Television Production marks the beginning of GFA’s production certification pathway. With these experiences, students can develop credentials that will significantly aid in launching their careers in the entertainment sector, including film, television, and live production.

The Georgia Film Academy’s mission is to connect talent with opportunities within the thriving entertainment industry. Through its certification programs, GFA aims to prepare students to step onto real sets and seamlessly integrate into actual productions, ensuring that participants are workforce-ready within Georgia’s robust entertainment market.

The GFA certification is recognized across the nation and holds substantial value to employers in film and live entertainment production. Students who choose to continue their educational journey beyond GFA 1000 can apply for hands-on internships with professional productions, gaining valuable resume-building experience and making critical industry connections.

Graduates of the Georgia Film Academy have contributed to significant projects, such as “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and “Stranger Things.” This highlights the caliber of opportunity available for students who pursue their education through this program.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Georgia Film Academy has been instrumental in supporting Georgia’s creative economy by providing specialized professional training through over 30 partner institutions. GFA collaborates with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia to deliver statewide certification programs tailored for different learner categories.

In addition to the film production course, the GFA also offers professional training in post-production, AVID editing certification, and high school teacher training in partnership with the Georgia Department of Education. The organization further broadens its educational offerings by providing summer camps for high school students, focusing on screenwriting, filmmaking, post-production, and esports.

This summer, students and community members interested in gaining insights and skills in film production are encouraged to visit the GFA website for more information and to enroll in the Introduction to Film & Television Production course.
