Augusta, Georgia – The Leadership and Recognition Luncheon held on Tuesday, May 13, honored local students from Richmond, Columbia, Burke, and Jefferson counties for their achievements in leadership and technical education. This annual event is organized by the Georgia High School High Tech Program, which aims to highlight the accomplishments of students who have excelled in these fields.

As part of the ongoing commitment to enhance public safety, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is preparing to receive 36 new patrol vehicles. In conjunction with the vehicle delivery, the Sheriff’s Office will also conduct explosives training from May 19 to May 23 in Blythe, scheduling daily sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The issue of drowning awareness was also highlighted during the luncheon, where the alarming statistic of over 4,000 unintentional drowning deaths annually in the United States was discussed. As warm weather approaches, the importance of preparedness around water was emphasized, urging community members to take necessary safety precautions seriously.

The Richmond Heights Women’s Empowerment Luncheon, held on March 8, recognized women’s contributions to society with a sold-out crowd at Highland Heights Community Center.
