The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls about gunfire in the Crawford Avenue area at 7:41 p.m. Witnesses in the vicinity reported seeing several armed juveniles and confirmed that at least one person had been shot during the incident. Upon arrival, deputies found a 16-year-old male with a gunshot wound at the scene.
While law enforcement was present, additional gunfire was reported, necessitating an increased police presence in the area. During the investigation, one of the detained teens was found to have a laceration on his leg, although it is unclear how this injury was sustained. Both victims of the shooting were promptly transported to Wellstar for medical treatment.

As part of the response plan, it was announced that curfews for individuals under the age of 18 would be strictly enforced going forward. Additionally, in a related incident occurring concurrently, a 43-year-old man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at an investigator during a shoplifting episode nearby. The warning was lifted around 9:30 p.m. once the situation was deemed under control.
