The curfew enforces restrictions on nighttime movements, with weekday hours set from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and weekend hours (Fridays and Saturdays) from midnight to 5:00 a.m. Juveniles found in violation of this curfew, along with their parents, may face citations. For those who do breach the curfew, a designated intake area will be established to hold curfew violators until a parent or guardian can arrive to collect them.
This new policy follows a significant shooting incident in the Crawford Avenue area on a Sunday night, where multiple teens were involved, leading to increased police presence in the neighborhood. During this incident, five teenagers were taken into custody, with two individuals, 17-year-old Devon McClain and 14-year-old Tiantrec Freeman, formally charged with offenses including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.
