Augusta – Evan Joyner, a graduate student and member of the Augusta men’s basketball team, has been recognized as one of the elite student-athletes on the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Team of Academic Distinction. This prestigious award, endorsed by Barnes & Noble College, celebrates only 15 student-athletes from the Peach Belt Conference for their excellence both on the court and in academics.
Joyner, hailing from Greensboro, North Carolina, is pursuing a Master of Public Administration and has demonstrated considerable academic prowess with a cumulative GPA of 3.50. This achievement highlights his commitment to a balanced student-athlete experience, recognizing both his contributions during the basketball season and his academic success.
During the 2024-25 basketball season, Joyner played in 27 out of 30 games, making a significant impact as he started in 15. His performance on the court included an average of 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, where he ranked second on the team in rebounds, showcasing his valuable role in the team’s overall performance.
This season, Joyner had several standout moments, including a game against USC Beaufort where he scored 18 points. Additionally, he had a remarkable performance against Flagler, achieving seven rebounds and five blocks. His ability to execute under pressure was also evident when he went 8-for-11 in free-throw shooting in the same game against USC Beaufort, demonstrating his reliability as a team player.
