Evan Joyner, a graduate student from Greensboro, N.C., has been named to the 2024-25 Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Team of Academic Distinction, recognizing his outstanding academic achievements combined with significant contributions to Augusta University’s basketball team. This announcement was made on June 2, 2025, highlighting Joyner as one of only 15 student-athletes across the PBC to receive this prestigious honor, which is presented by Barnes & Noble College.
Joyner currently pursues a Master of Public Administration and maintains an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.50. His academic excellence has been matched by his performance on the basketball court, where he participated in 27 out of Augusta’s 30 games during the 2024-25 season. He played a crucial role by starting in 15 of those games and demonstrated consistent scoring ability, averaging 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. Notably, he ranked second on the team in rebounds, further showcasing his valuable contribution to the team’s overall performance.
Throughout the season, Joyner exhibited moments of standout play, including an 18-point game against USC Beaufort, where he also recorded stellar free-throw shooting with an 8-for-11 performance.
