The fire was reported in the 100 block of Hidden Springs Road at approximately 2:42 p.m. Firefighters responded promptly, but the victim was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death and identify the victim, whose identity has not yet been released. Additionally, a separate fatal structure fire took place on Thursday night in the 1400 block of Guthrie Road in Augusta County, Virginia. According to reports from the Virginia State Police, three individuals were inside the structure at the time the fire broke out. Two of the occupants were able to escape safely, but one individual was unfortunately found deceased inside the building. The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Vickie Smith. In an unrelated incident in Augusta, Maine, a woman has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to the porch of a vacant apartment complex. The fire was reported at 7 Boothby Street just before 5 a.m. on Saturday morning. Both the Augusta Fire Department and the Police Department responded swiftly to extinguish the flames. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Amanda Condon, is believed to have started the fire intentionally. The Office of State Fire Marshal was also involved in the investigation. Following her actions, Condon was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and later arrested for arson and violating her conditions of release. After her hospital stay, she was taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
