Sallyanne is preceded in death by her mother, Winifred Hazel Outzs Crawford; her infant half-brother; her father, Harold Thomas Crawford; her stepmother, Dorothy Ruth Lindley Crawford; and her husband, James Barrow, Jr. She is survived by her two sons, James Barrow and Samuel Pope Barrow.
A graveside funeral service for Sallyanne is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta. A memorial service will follow in Athens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Athens Symphony or Extra Special People, reflecting her ongoing commitment to charitable causes.
Born and raised in Augusta, GA, Sallyanne attended local elementary, middle, and high schools. During her formative years, she was actively involved in the St John United Methodist’s Youth Group, showing early signs of her dedication to community service.
Sallyanne continued her education at North Georgia College, where she graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, focusing on accounting and marketing. While in college, she worked part-time in the Office of the Commandant and served as president of the Kappa Delta sorority her senior year. She furthered her education by earning a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Georgia in 1977.
Sallyanne began her professional career working in the financial department of St. Mary’s Hospital. She later took on a role with the University of Georgia Alumni Association, showcasing her commitment to her alma mater and the broader community. Eventually, she established her own business, NE GA Financial Management Services, where she was recognized for her integrity, sense of justice, and ethical standards in her work.
