During a search, authorities found illegal items connected to Walker, including methamphetamine and firearms. Wimberly was robbed shortly after being struck by a vehicle, raising community concerns and prompting a collaborative investigation by local law enforcement. The case highlights public safety issues and ongoing efforts to seek justice for Wimberly.

Augusta, Georgia – Marquise Walker has been arrested in connection with the robbery of Xavion Wimberly, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident on May 25. The arrest took place on Tuesday at approximately 5:59 PM while executing a search warrant in the 2600 block of Brookshire Drive.

During the search, authorities recovered an extensive array of illegal items, including approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine, 25 grams of marijuana, three handguns, and a stolen Can-Am Spider motorcycle. In a critical piece of evidence, Walker was discovered wearing a necklace identified as belonging to Wimberly, who had been robbed while succumbing to his injuries shortly after the hit-and-run.

Wimberly was struck by a vehicle outside the Suz Lounge and, as he lay on the sidewalk, he was approached and robbed by an unknown assailant. Investigators believe Walker approached Wimberly and seized the necklace shortly after he had been hit. Initially, authorities suspected that the necklace had been stolen, but Walker claimed he found it near the scene of the incident.

The identity of the necklace as Wimberly’s was confirmed through identification provided by his father, Xavier Wimberly. Following these developments, Walker was charged with multiple offenses, including felony theft by taking, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

In addition to Walker’s arrest, several other individuals were taken into custody during the operation related to his apprehension. The ongoing investigation has drawn significant community attention, especially in light of the circumstances surrounding Wimberly’s death and the theft. Authorities had previously announced a $7,500 reward for information regarding the theft connected to Wimberly’s case in June, indicating the high level of public concern over the matter.

The Richmond County and Burke County Sheriff’s Offices worked collaboratively on this investigation that culminated in Walker’s arrest. Sheriff Eugene Brantley emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration in the effort to reduce crime. The case continues to be a priority as the community seeks justice for Wimberly, with law enforcement urging anyone with additional information to come forward to aid in further arrests.

Wimberly’s death and the circumstances surrounding it have sparked outrage and concern among the local community, highlighting the need for public safety and awareness. Residents have expressed their feelings regarding the tragic event, and the investigation remains active as authorities strive to bring all responsible parties to justice.

This incident serves to remind the community of the critical importance of safety and vigilance, especially in light of emerging crime trends. As the investigation unfolds, more information may come to light, providing further insight into this tragic event and the measures being taken to ensure justice is served.
