Augusta, Georgia – A 28-year-old man named Raekwon Brinson was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon at a convenience store in Augusta. The incident occurred at 3:14 p.m. at The One Stop convenience store located at 2382 Barton Chapel Road. Despite prompt emergency response and lifesaving efforts, Brinson was pronounced dead less than an hour later at 2:52 p.m.
The Richmond County Coroner, Mark Bowen, identified the victim as a resident of Barton Chapel Road who was a customer at the store when he was shot. Eyewitnesses reported seeing Brinson standing in the doorway of the establishment when he was shot at least once.
Witnesses also described a chaotic scene as law enforcement officials arrived at the location shortly after the shooting occurred. By 4 p.m., the store’s parking lot was cordoned off with yellow tape while crime scene technicians collected evidence near the entrance decorated with a red awning.
