Chicago – Kyle Lodise, a former standout athlete at Augusta University and Georgia Tech, has been selected 76th overall by the Chicago White Sox as the first pick of the third round in the 2025 MLB Draft held on July 14, 2025. This significant achievement marks a major milestone in Lodise’s baseball career and highlights his exceptional talent as a shortstop.
Lodise, originally from Brunswick, Georgia, began his college career at Augusta University, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Georgia Tech for the 2025 season. During his freshman year in 2023 at Augusta, he showcased his skills by starting all 50 games and finishing with a remarkable .333 batting average. Over the season, he registered 72 hits, scored 59 runs, and led the team with nine home runs.
The following year, in his sophomore season, Lodise continued to impress, achieving an even higher batting average of .369. He recorded a team-leading 65 hits, 14 home runs, and 49 RBIs, along with an impressive 24 stolen bases. His outstanding performance earned him the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year award in 2023 and a PBC Team All-Conference selection in 2024. Notably, he was also recognized as the Southeast Region Player of the Week in March 2024, where he distinguished himself with four consecutive games featuring home runs and driving in 12 RBIs over that stretch.
After transferring to Georgia Tech, Lodise continued to build on his success. He played as a starting shortstop for the Yellow Jackets throughout the 2025 season, appearing in 55 games. Lodise recorded a slash line of .329/.429/.667, which signifies a combination of batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage. He achieved 39 extra-base hits, including 20 doubles, three triples, and 16 home runs, while scoring 68 runs and drawing 34 walks. On the defensive side, he led Georgia Tech with 140 assists and showcased his base-running skills by completing all 13 of his stolen base attempts.
His exceptional performance at Georgia Tech earned him second-team All-ACC honors and made him a semifinalist for the prestigious Brooks Wallace Award, which recognizes the nation’s top collegiate shortstop. Lodise’s talent and determination were further reflected as he became the 34th Yellow Jacket in program history to be drafted in the first three rounds and the 164th player selected under head coach Danny Hall.
The White Sox’s selection of Lodise follows a season in which his draft stock rose significantly, thanks largely to his outstanding season performances.
