Augusta Community Hub Hosts Back-to-School Celebration Amid Hurricane Recovery Efforts

The Community Hub in Augusta hosted a back-to-school celebration on Saturday morning, providing essential supplies and resources for students as the new school year approaches. This year, the average cost of school supplies for elementary students ranges from $50 to $100, while middle and high school students can expect to spend between $150 to $200. This initiative aligns with the mission of the United Way of the CSRA, which is collaborating with local organizations for “Stuff the Bus,” an annual school supply drive to assist children in need. The Neighbor Bridge has pledged to supply 400 book bags along with additional school materials for the event. Participants can look forward to free services, including haircuts, live music, and various engaging activities. The goal for this year’s Fishersville event is to assist 400 students, doubling the number served in the previous year.

Moreover, Waynesboro Schools and Staunton Schools are set to host their back-to-school events on July 20 and July 21 respectively. These events will also feature free immunizations for students, ensuring that they are ready to return to the classroom healthy and safe.
