Martinez – A 27-year-old woman, Journae Young, has been arrested following a stabbing incident that occurred early Sunday morning on the 400 block of Bloedel Reserve Way. Authorities from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 1:20 a.m., where they discovered a female victim lying on the ground with a stab wound to her abdomen.

The victim was able to identify Young as the person responsible for the stabbing. Witnesses reported that Young appeared to be intoxicated during the incident. Prior to the stabbing, the victim had been attempting to escort Young back into a home after an argument between the two.

After spending some time inside the residence, the victim emerged stating that she had been stabbed. Subsequently, emergency services transported the victim to Wellstar MCG for treatment of her injuries. Her current condition has not been publicly disclosed.

Journae Young has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. The investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office continues as authorities gather more details regarding the circumstances of the altercation.

This incident unfolds amid rising concerns about violent occurrences in the Martinez area. Just a minute’s walk from where the stabbing took place is a local barbershop, indicating that the incident occurred in a populated neighborhood.

In a separate but notable incident, a man was arrested recently for firing shots at a car containing a baby. Local law enforcement emphasizes that this stabbing is unrelated to that event. However, both incidents highlight a growing trend in violent behavior that has left residents increasingly worried about safety in their community.

As law enforcement investigates the details surrounding these incidents, the community remains on alert, reflecting on the broader implications of violence in their neighborhoods.
