The individual has been identified as 70-year-old Charlie Creech, who was pronounced dead around 2:30 p.m.

The case has been officially upgraded to a murder investigation following the circumstances surrounding Creech’s death. Investigators have named 43-year-old Jeffrey Taiwan Eutsay as the primary suspect in this case. Eutsay is reportedly believed to be homeless, and a murder warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Jeffrey Eutsay was recently released from prison three weeks ago, after serving six years for a previous stabbing incident. He is described as a Black male, standing at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 195 pounds. Authorities are actively searching for Eutsay and have urged anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020.

The Sheriff’s Office has also notified Augusta University police about the incident, given that the Chevron gas station is situated in close proximity to both AU’s health sciences campus and Paine College. Initial reports indicate that the individuals involved in this case, including the victim, are not connected to Augusta University.

An autopsy for victim Charlie Creech will be scheduled shortly, and his identity will be released to the public once next of kin have been duly notified. Sheriff Gino Brantley emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, including those in the homeless community.
