AUGUSTA, Ga. — After a stretch of dry, seasonal weather, the CSRA should watch Tropical Depression 9’s weekend track: the Gulf system is forecast to become Hurricane Isaias and could push heavy rain and gusty winds into Georgia even if it comes ashore west of the state.

South and middle Georgia sit on the eastern side of the circulation, with First Alert Weather Days already posted for Saturday and Sunday. Tropical moisture is also expected to overspread north Georgia Saturday into Sunday, with street-flooding potential in poor-drainage areas and a conditional tornado risk if shear and moisture align.

Midweek remains quiet and sunny across much of the state, giving outdoor plans a short window before confidence grows on exact rainfall timing. Augusta-area residents should revisit forecasts before weekend travel, youth sports and river recreation along the Savannah River corridor, and watch for any flood or wind advisories once the weekend track firms up.

Forecasters caution that landfall points from eastern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle remain in play, so impacts for the CSRA could still shift later this week.

Fort Eisenhower and downtown event planners should build weather contingencies into Saturday schedules. Residents near familiar ponding spots off Bobby Jones Expressway and in older drainage corridors may want to move vehicles to higher ground if training bands linger. Monitor National Weather Service Charleston and Peachtree City updates as the track firms.

Gardeners can finish midweek chores while soils stay dry, then pause mowing if saturating rains arrive. Keep flashlights accessible as a precaution. Drivers on I-20 and the Gordon Highway corridor should leave extra time Saturday afternoon if heavy bands set up over the CSRA.
