ATLANTA, Ga. — President Donald Trump returns to Georgia on Friday for a midterm rally with governor candidate Rick Jackson and Senate nominee Mike Collins in Dalton, a stop meant to lift Republican turnout before the Nov. 3 election.
The event is set for 1:30 p.m. at Dalton Municipal Airport. It will be Trump’s third Georgia visit this year after stops in Rome in February and at Cobb County’s Wheeler High School in July.
Collins and Jackson both said they will attend. Collins is challenging Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, and the two are scheduled for another debate Tuesday as early voting begins across the state.
Jackson’s campaign said he looks forward to reminding Georgia voters that bad mayors do not make good governors, a jab aimed at Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms. Collins said in a Monday social media post that the ticket would keep communities safe, cut taxes and bring down costs.
Trump has been telling supporters to vote as if he were on the November ballot. Georgia’s midterms also include open races for lieutenant governor, attorney general and secretary of state, plus all 14 U.S. House seats.
Dalton sits in a Republican-leaning corner of northwest Georgia. The stop comes as both parties push early voting that runs through Oct. 30 and as Jackson tries to balance shared stages with Trump against efforts to present his own governing agenda to swing voters.
Friday’s visit keeps national attention on Georgia’s Senate and governor contests during the first full week voters can cast ballots in person across the state’s 159 counties.
