EVANS, Ga. — Brunch fans in Columbia County have a new place to eat. The breakfast chain Biscuit Belly has opened a restaurant in Evans, which makes it the company’s third location anywhere in Georgia.
The new spot sits at 4274 Washington Rd, Suite 2, along one of the main commercial roads that ties the Augusta suburbs together. Evans is an unincorporated community in Columbia County, about 15 miles northwest of downtown Augusta.
The menu centers on biscuits made from scratch, along with breakfast sandwiches and brunch cocktails. The company pitches the Evans location as a weekend brunch stop for families and a quick biscuit run for people heading out to the lake.
Posted hours run from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with an extra hour on the back end from Friday through Sunday, when the kitchen stays open until 3 p.m. The company is also taking job applications for the new location.
Washington Road is the main retail strip on this side of the metro. It runs from Augusta out through Martinez, a car-dependent suburb where shops and restaurants are concentrated along that road, and on into Evans, so the new restaurant lands on a corridor that already draws diners from across Columbia County.
Martinez and Evans grew quickly from the 1970s on as the Augusta metro spread into Columbia County, pulled in part by strong county schools and new roads. Grovetown, about 12 miles northwest of Augusta, is also part of that ring of growing suburbs.
The opening adds to a steady run of new businesses in Columbia County, which has drawn a large share of people moving out of Augusta proper, with Evans and Grovetown leading that suburban growth.
