AUGUSTA, Ga. — A downtown Augusta Halloween tradition is back for a 19th year. Le Chat Noir will stage its Black Cat Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 31, outside the theater at 304 8th Street, running from 7 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.

The theater bills the night as the city’s biggest Halloween block party, and the lineup leans hard into old-time carnival weirdness. Fire dancers, sword swallowers and a sideshow share the space with strange games of skill and handmade prizes that regulars compete to win.

Getting in costs nothing, and the free entertainment comes from Arcane Arts and other performers. Inside the event, tickets work as the money of the midway. Guests buy them on site and spend them on games, the sideshow and other attractions.

This year the midway grows beyond games, adding food trucks and art vendors to the mix. Vendors who want to take part can contact the theater.

For those who want a more comfortable Halloween, a VIC package, a clown-themed play on VIP, opens up a private area with its own food and drinks. It also includes unlimited spiked punch, a bundle of tickets to spend on the midway or at the sideshow, and a voucher for one of the food trucks.

The theater’s Halloween bash has now been held downtown for nearly two decades, and this year’s edition stretches across Halloween night and into the first hours of Sunday, Nov. 1, on 8th Street.

Families planning to attend should keep the late hours in mind, since the party does not wrap up until 1:30 the next morning. Tickets for the games and the sideshow are sold on site the night of the event.
