AUGUSTA, Ga. — Augusta and Richmond County voters who still have not cast a ballot get one last chance on Tuesday, and they will have to go to their own precinct to do it. Monday is a dead day on the calendar, with no early ballots taken anywhere in the county.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Unlike the advance period, when anyone in the county could use any of four sites, Election Day voting happens only at the polling place assigned to each voter. Voters need an acceptable photo ID, and a Georgia driver’s license still counts even after it has expired.

A big share of the electorate is already done. By the county elections board’s count, 38,009 people showed up to vote in person during the advance period that started Oct. 13 and wrapped up Oct. 30, and the final Friday was the heaviest day of the stretch at 4,431 voters. Another 2,347 mail ballots had come back, so the county held 40,356 ballots before Election Day arrived. The Robert Howard Community Center in Hephzibah was the busiest of the four advance sites.

Some voters will find a new place to go. Precincts 702 and 708, which used St. Mark, now vote at National Hills Baptist Church. Precinct 110 at Mann-Mize moved to Good Shepherd Baptist Church and precinct 208 to Building Worship Center, while the Oasis Church precincts, 804H and 810, now vote at Brothersville Event Center. Voters can look up their precinct and sample ballot on the state My Voter Page.

Anyone still holding an absentee ballot should hand-deliver it, since the board must have it by 7 p.m. Tuesday and mail may be too slow. Questions go to the elections office at 706-821-2340, and its office sits at 535 Telfair St., Suite 500. Election night counts are unofficial until the board certifies them at a 3 p.m. meeting Friday, Nov. 6, at 2029 Lumpkin Road. Any runoff would be held Dec. 1.
