Law enforcement authorities responded swiftly, arriving within two minutes of the incident and securing the exits of the mall to ensure public safety. A deputy from the Richmond County Marshal’s Office administered CPR to McClain immediately upon arrival; however, the attempts were unsuccessful.
Authorities used surveillance video to identify and track suspects. During the response, one individual was apprehended on mall property while another was intercepted at a nearby gas station. The Richmond County SWAT team assisted in securing the perimeter and clearing the mall of potential threats.
