A 39-year-old man was shot multiple times in Augusta, Georgia, on the morning of Friday, October 3, 2025. The violent incident occurred at the intersection of Curry and Brown Street, located behind a Family Dollar store. The victim, identified as Larry Meminger Jr., suffered serious injuries but managed to run to a nearby business, Aikens Tires, to call for help.

Emergency responders transported Meminger to Wellstar MCG Health hospital, where he arrived alert and talking. Authorities discovered at least 20 shell casings at the crime scene, indicating the severity of the attack. A significant police operation followed the shooting, aimed at locating the suspect.

Deputies located the suspect’s vehicle, a white Chevy Tahoe, around 12:45 PM. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled, leading to a dramatic police chase. During this pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle collided with another car at the intersection of 2nd Street and Watkins Street, resulting in minor injuries to the other driver.

After abandoning the Tahoe, the suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by Investigative Sergeants Cameron Hampton and James Treedore. The suspect has been identified as 25-year-old Santrez Ellis. He now faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession during a crime, possession of marijuana with intent, as well as various traffic-related charges.

In connection with the incident, two additional suspects, 38-year-old Dominique Demario Ellis and 27-year-old Eshaud Denzel Ellis, are currently wanted and considered armed and dangerous. Law enforcement is urging the public to provide any information regarding the outstanding suspects by contacting the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1080.

This shooting marks the second violent incident in Augusta within a two-day span, following another shooting that involved a deputy.
