Narrating their impressive achievements, Nasrudin Mohamed recorded a personal-best 8k time of 24:51.3 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge. This performance not only secured him an 11th overall finish in a competitive field of Division I and II competitors but also marked the second-fastest 8k time in the Peach Belt Conference this season. Before this event, he clinched first place at the GCSU Bobcat Invite with a time of 25:44.4 and kicked off his season with a 21st-place finish at the Queen City Invite, completing the course in 25:08.4. His consistent performance has established him as one of the standout runners in the Peach Belt Conference.

Meanwhile, Madison Thomas has matched Mohamed’s success, also being named the Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week for the third straight time. In her latest race at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, she recorded the fastest 5k time in the conference for the season, finishing in 18:02.0. Although she placed 19th in a competitive field that includes Division I and II runners, her earlier victories include a first-place finish at the GCSU Bobcat Invite with a time of 19:22.9 and an 18:30.3 performance at the Queen City Invite. Remarkably, Thomas is the only women’s runner in the Peach Belt Conference to have received this weekly honor after every race this season.

The Augusta women’s cross country team also delivered a commendable performance at the Royals Cross Country Challenge, where they placed fifth in the Women’s Blue 5K heat and seventh in the Women’s Gold 5K heat. Freshman Caleigh Munro led the Blue race with a 15th-place finish, completing the course in 19:54.04, followed closely by senior Cheyenne Ryan in 17th place with a time of 19:57.80. Sophomore Ansley Graddy and freshman Sophia Cook secured Augusta’s top four positions in the Blue race, finishing with times of 20:33.50 and 20:38.12, respectively. Freshman Carlee Hodges rounded out the scoring five in the Blue race, finishing in 21:46.57. In the Gold race, senior Madison Thomas once again led with an impressive time of 18:01.91, placing 19th overall.

Augusta’s cross country team features a diverse group of runners from various classes, providing them with valuable racing experience. Their next competition will take place on Saturday, October 25, at the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Milledgeville, Georgia, where they will compete against other strong collegiate teams.
