Augusta, Georgia – Augusta senior Nasrudin Mohamed and junior Madison Thomas have both achieved significant milestones in their cross country season, each earning Peach Belt Conference Runner of the Week honors for the third consecutive week following their performances at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.
Mohamed recorded a personal-best 8k time of 24:51.3, finishing 11th overall in a competitive field that included runners from both Division I and II teams. His impressive performance also marks the second-fastest 8k time in the Peach Belt Conference this season. In his previous races, he secured first place at the GCSU Bobcat Invite with a time of 25:44.4 and placed 21st at the Queen City Invite, completing the course in 25:08.4. Mohamed has consistently demonstrated his speed and endurance, making him one of only two runners in the conference, alongside Thomas, to earn weekly honors after each race this season.
Similarly, Thomas distinguished herself with the fastest 5k time recorded in the Peach Belt Conference this season, finishing the Royals Cross Country Challenge with a time of 18:02.0 and placing 19th overall in a highly competitive field. Like Mohamed, she also has a strong track record; she clinched first place at the GCSU Bobcat Invite with a time of 19:22.9 and posted a time of 18:30.3 during her opener at the Queen City Invite. Thomas remains the sole women’s runner in the conference to have earned the coveted weekly award in every race this season.
In addition to individual honors, the Augusta women’s cross country team celebrated its first team victory of the season at the Bobcat Invitational, achieving a total score of 41 points. Thomas led her team to victory by finishing first with a time of 19:22.83. The Jaguars triumphed over Division I competitor Georgia Southern, which scored 61 points, and Peach Belt rival North Georgia, which accumulated 70 points. Augusta’s team excelled with five runners finishing within the top 15, solidifying their win against other Peach Belt programs including Georgia College, Columbus State, Clayton State, USC Aiken, and Georgia Southwestern.
