AUGUSTA, Ga. — A string of dry, bright fall days is lined up for Augusta and the rest of the CSRA, after a cold front pushed through Friday and left behind a modest but welcome dose of rain.
Sunday starts on the cool side, with lows in the middle 40s before the afternoon warms into the lower 70s under full sunshine. The National Weather Service forecast for Richmond County calls for a high near 73 today and light, variable wind, followed by a clear night with a low around 46. Calm wind is expected overnight, which tends to let temperatures fall quickly once the sun goes down.
The pattern holds into the workweek. The weather service expects Monday to reach a high near 74 after a clear, calm start, and Monday night to dip to a low around 44, the coldest reading in the outlook. Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies and a high near 76, with a southwest breeze around 6 mph in the afternoon.
Veterans Day on Wednesday looks mostly sunny with a high near 76, and the night that follows should stay milder, with a low around 51. Forecasters describe the stretch as typical for early November, with highs in the mid-70s and mornings in the low to mid-40s.
The one item to watch is a weak system that could bring a stray shower or two on Thursday. For now, forecasters lean toward a completely dry week, which means people planning yard work, outdoor events or Veterans Day ceremonies should not need an umbrella. Anyone heading out early should plan for a jacket, since the mornings will be chilly even as the afternoons turn pleasant.
