News Summary

Ironhead Barbeque, a popular food truck known for its smoked meats, will open a permanent restaurant in North Augusta by summer 2025. Located at 340 Edgefield Road, the new dining venue aims to enhance customer experience and foster community engagement through live music and outdoor activities. Owner Kurt Mueller seeks to establish Ironhead as a notable barbecue brand, while continuing to operate the food truck at select events, allowing customers to enjoy their beloved barbecue in a vibrant setting.

North Augusta is set to welcome a new dining option as Ironhead Barbeque, a well-known food truck celebrated for its smoked meats, plans to open a permanent location by the end of summer 2025. The newly established restaurant will be located at 340 Edgefield Road, replacing the popular food truck venture that has captivated local barbecue enthusiasts for years.

The lease for the property was completed on April 30, 2025, under the leadership of owner and founder Kurt Mueller. This transition from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar restaurant aims to provide a more stable and consistent presence for customers while allowing for staff hiring and an enhanced dining experience.

The menu at Ironhead Barbeque will offer a variety of classic smoked meats, including brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, and beef ribs. In addition to the main dishes, traditional sides such as cole slaw and mac and cheese will also be available. Future plans include the addition of desserts, expanding the menu further to delight customers.

Furthermore, the new location will promote a community-oriented atmosphere featuring live music, karaoke, and a cornhole station, encouraging customers to socialize and enjoy their meals in a lively setting.

Mueller has a vision to establish Ironhead as a national barbecue brand, with a focus on building a successful local model first. The decision to open in North Augusta stems from his desire to contribute positively to the community, emphasizing the importance of local engagement.

Ironhead Barbeque originally began as Atomic City Smokers and gained acclaim through participation in BBQ competitions, including the television show BBQ USA on the Food Network. The transition to a physical location provides an opportunity for Ironhead Barbeque to develop a reputation as the best barbecue in the county, with long-term ambitions that include a potential franchise model.

The physical restaurant will not replace the food truck completely. Instead, the food truck will continue to operate on a less frequent basis, allowing customers to still enjoy Ironhead’s offerings at various events. The restaurant aims to create a welcoming environment that nurtures community bonds through the shared love of barbecue.

Customer feedback will be essential as Ironhead Barbeque aims to maintain its traditional barbecue offerings while also adapting to preferences and suggestions from its clientele. This dedication to customer service may lead to the inclusion of a wider variety of side dishes and unique menu items, such as smoked jalapeño poppers, affectionately dubbed “armadillo eggs” by fans.

The anticipated opening of Ironhead Barbeque’s physical location is creating excitement within the North Augusta community. As the venture transitions from a food truck to a fully operational restaurant, residents can look forward to enjoying smoked meats and an inviting space that fosters both culinary enjoyment and community connection.
