ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia moved to No. 1 in the weekly composite 138 college football rankings after a rain-soaked win at Alabama and Texas’ upset loss to Oklahoma reshaped the top of the FBS board.
Voters gave the Bulldogs an average ballot ranking of 1.2, a near-consensus pick that starts the second-half national title conversation around Kirby Smart’s team.
Miami checked in at No. 2 with a 2.2 average rating, just ahead of Notre Dame at No. 3 with a 3.3 average, forming a Tier 1 group before Ohio State, Indiana and Alabama begin the next band at No. 4.
The same weekend that lifted Georgia also knocked around the SEC landscape, with Kentucky rising on an overtime win over LSU and Texas A&M continuing a slide that has cost the Aggies dozens of spots since mid-September.
Separate national media balloting on Sunday likewise moved Georgia to No. 1 after the 20-17 Tuscaloosa victory, with the Bulldogs collecting 66 of 70 first-place votes in that poll and reclaiming the top line for the first time since September 2024.
Composite rankings now align on Georgia as the clearest remaining unbeaten power in the conference after Texas fell and other playoff hopefuls stumbled.
For Georgia fans, the composite 138 result is another data point behind the on-field claim the Bulldogs made in Tuscaloosa: enough punches landed in a contentious SEC heavyweight bout to own the national conversation.
Alabama still sits in the next tier of that composite board, a reminder that the league remains deep even as Georgia alone holds the top line entering the Auburn week on the calendar.
