Augusta Community Mourns the Loss of Local Citizens
Augusta, GA is grieving the recent losses of four beloved community members: Donald G. West, Gregory Scot Boulus Jr., Elizabeth Gill Eber, and Patricia Eubanks Scoggins.
Donald G. West
Donald G. West, a retired Master Sergeant of the US Air Force, passed away on May 29, 2025. He served honorably in the Air Force for over 22 years as a flight engineer. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ralph and Josephine West, Donald was a family man, married to Josephine Blommer for nearly 60 years until her passing in 2016.
He is survived by his seven children: Mark, Sharon, Karen, Cynthia, Joseph, Laura, and Donald. Additionally, Donald West leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Terrance. He was preceded in death by two brothers and his parents. A memorial service is scheduled for June 27, 2025, at Platt’s Funeral Home chapel in Evans, GA, where his ashes will be interred beside his wife in Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Donations in his honor may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Gregory Scot Boulus Jr.
Gregory Scot Boulus Jr. passed away on June 4, 2025, leaving behind his parents Clare and Greg, and brothers Vaughan and Pierce. Gregory was known for his love of music, particularly the bass guitar, which he played from high school through college. He had a passion for fine dining, enjoyed hosting barbecue gatherings, and was known for his close relationships with family and friends.
A funeral Mass will take place on June 7, 2025, at The Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, followed by burial and visitation at Westover Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Edisto Island Open Land Trust or Nuci’s Space.
Elizabeth Gill Eber
Elizabeth Gill Eber, aged 74, passed on June 1, 2025. Born in Nurnberg, Germany, she led a life filled with travel as a “military brat” and pursued her education at the Academy of Richmond County, graduating in 1969. Elizabeth embarked on her career at Southern Bell and went on to work as a district coordinator for K-Mart and held various positions in health care.
She was married to Jerry Eber for 35 years, cherishing time spent with him and their family. Elizabeth is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A private family service is being planned for a later date.
Patricia Eubanks Scoggins
Patricia Eubanks Scoggins passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2025, at age 73. A lifelong member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, Patricia was involved in several church ministries. Known affectionately as “Nonnie,” she is survived by her husband Preston and their five children, along with eight grandchildren.
Patricia devoted her career to nursing, specializing in hospice care, a calling she cherished deeply. She was preceded in death by her mother and a brother, along with other family members. Friends and family will gather on June 3, 2025, for visitation at Thomas Poteet & Son, followed by a funeral Mass on June 4, 2025, at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Aquinas High School or St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School.
