Augusta, Georgia – The Richmond County School System (RCSS) has begun registration for the upcoming 2025–2026 school year, urging families to secure their spots as soon as possible. New students and those transferring between schools can register online at www.rcboe.org/registration. The registration process is designed to be accessible, with RCSS staff available to answer questions via phone on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until July 25.

On July 31, onsite registration will take place at all schools in the district from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., allowing parents and guardians the opportunity to receive in-person assistance at their child’s zoned school. It is important for families already enrolled in the RCSS to update their information in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, ensuring a seamless transition as the new school year approaches.

The start of the 2025–2026 school year is set for August, with elementary schools beginning classes on August 4, followed by middle, K-8, magnet, and high schools on August 5. Parents are also reminded that kindergarten registration is currently open for students who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025, and will remain open until March 28, 2025. Families currently participating in the RCSS Pre-K program automatically transition to kindergarten without needing to register again.

Additionally, the 2025–2026 Pre-K lottery is now accepting applications from Georgia residents with children who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2025. Applications for this lottery can be completed online at rcboe.info/prekregistration until April 3, 2025. Notifications regarding acceptance or waitlist status will be communicated to applicants by April 25, 2025.

RCSS offers Georgia Lottery-funded Pre-K classes in 28 elementary schools across the district, each accommodating up to 20 students. The Pre-K program is provided free of charge and includes a full instructional day with breakfast, lunch, and rest time. The curriculum focuses on exploration and discovery, reinforcing early literacy and numeracy skills crucial for young learners.

For more detailed information regarding Pre-K eligibility or assistance, families are encouraged to visit rcboe.org/prek or contact the RCSS Pre-K Office at 706-826-1000 ext. 5127. The Richmond County School System is excited to welcome new families into the community and looks forward to a productive school year ahead.
