Augusta, Georgia – Augusta University is set to celebrate its Class of 2026 Hall of Fame inductees and a new partnership with Uptown Cheapskate this May. This announcement reveals a lineup of eminent individuals who made significant contributions to the university’s athletic programs, alongside collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing community engagement.

This year’s Hall of Fame inductees include remarkable athletes known for their record-setting performances and achievements. Director of Athletics Ryan Erlacher expressed enthusiasm about the inductees’ contributions to the university’s sports legacy. Each inductee reflects excellence in their respective fields, showcasing talents that have set standards for future generations.

Among the distinguished inductees is Keshun Sherrill, celebrated as one of the greatest basketball players in Augusta University’s history. The 31-year-old graduate, hailing from West Rowan, made a substantial impact during his time with the Jaguars. Sherrill scored a total of 1,907 points in high school under coach Mike Gurley before joining the Jaguars, where he played for four years under head coach Dip Metress.

Sherrill concluded his college basketball career as the Peach Belt Conference’s all-time leading scorer, amassing 2,333 points, a feat that has earned him lasting recognition. His contributions led to the retirement of his No. 10 jersey in 2017. In his senior year, he was honored as an All-America and named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year. Additionally, he received accolades as the Southeast Region Player of the Year and was twice recognized as Augusta’s Male Athlete of the Year.

After college, Sherrill ventured into international professional basketball, competing for nine seasons. He expressed gratitude towards coach Dip Metress, acknowledging the pivotal role he played in his journey at Augusta University.

In addition to the Hall of Fame celebration, Augusta Athletics has announced a new partnership with Uptown Cheapskate, a resale clothing franchise aimed at enhancing community engagement. This collaboration underscores the university’s commitment to strengthening ties with local businesses and enhancing the fan experience during athletic events.

Uptown Cheapskate has locations in Augusta, Evans, and Athens, and the company’s owner, Shannon Unger, expressed enthusiasm for supporting Augusta University Athletics. The partnership aligns with the values of Augusta Athletics, particularly in sustainability and community-focused initiatives, according to Director Erlacher.

The university’s men’s basketball team is also gearing up for the upcoming 2025-26 season, as coach Dip Metress recently announced the schedule. The Jaguars will open the season at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic against Washburn University on November 1, 2025. Following this, the team will participate in Highlander tournament games on November 14 and 15.

The home opener will take place on November 19 against Emmanuel University, and fans can look forward to a total of 14 home games at Christenberry Fieldhouse throughout the season. The Peach Belt Conference opener is set for December 3 against Flagler, and the regular season will culminate with the Peach Belt Conference Tournament scheduled for March 2026.

The induction ceremony and the collaboration with Uptown Cheapskate represent a commitment to honoring past achievements while fostering growth and community connection within Augusta University’s athletic programs. Both events are anticipated to draw significant attention and participation from the university community and local residents alike.
