ATLANTA, Ga. — Anyone hunting for a teaching job in Georgia will soon have one place to look. Georgia’s Education Department and its Professional Standards Commission are folding their two recruiting websites, TeachGeorgia and Teach in the Peach, into a single statewide job board due in January 2027.
The new system, built with the software company PowerSchool, is designed to scrape openings straight from each school district’s own hiring site and refresh the statewide list as positions change. For most districts that ends the chore of typing the same vacancy into two systems.
Job seekers will be able to search by location, sign up for alerts that match their interests, and see Georgia postings pushed out to national job sites such as Indeed. State officials say smaller and rural districts, which often struggle to reach applicants from outside their area, stand to gain the most.
The board will also feed the state better numbers on where vacancies are piling up and how hiring is trending, so agencies and districts can aim recruiting help at the places that need it most.
The project grows out of the state’s strategic plan for recruiting and keeping educators, written after the Senate passed Resolution 237 in 2025. That plan called for better statewide recruiting tools, less paperwork for districts and more data sharing between agencies. Georgia’s Board of Education has given the effort its initial support.
State School Superintendent Richard Woods said the change is part of a push to make Georgia the top state for teachers by making openings easier to find. Commission executive secretary Joseph Barrow said the merger widens recruiting from a statewide audience to a national one.
Teach in the Peach, the Education Department’s campaign to attract, honor and retain teachers, is also running a separate weekly recognition this school year with the College Football Playoff Foundation that gives one Georgia teacher $1,000 in classroom funds each week for 40 weeks.
When it launches, the board will be reachable at teachgeorgia.org and teachinthepeach.org. Districts will get rollout details before January.
