AUGUSTA, Ga. — Voters in Augusta and neighboring Columbia County have one last week to cast a ballot in person before Election Day, as advance voting for the Nov. 3 general election runs through Friday, Oct. 30.
Georgia law sets the window. Early in-person voting opens on the fourth Monday before an election and closes on the Friday right before Election Day, which put this year’s start on Oct. 13. Hours and locations are set by each county, and voters can look up their options on the state’s My Voter Page.
In Richmond County, four sites welcome voters between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday this week. The Augusta Municipal Building sits at 535 Telfair St. The others are the Henry Brigham Community Center on Golden Camp Road, the Robert Howard Community Center on Diamond Lakes Way and the Warren Road Community Center at 300 Warren Road.
The Municipal Building also opened for a Sunday session on Oct. 25, giving weekend voters an extra day downtown.
Columbia County runs three sites, each open between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Voters can use the Board of Elections office in Building G3 at 610 Ronald Reagan Drive in Evans, the former Euchee Creek Library in Grovetown, or the Columbia County School District Support Complex on River Watch Parkway in Evans.
Local contests on the Richmond County ballot include the District 2 seat on the Richmond County Board of Education. Several Georgia General Assembly members who represent the two counties have no opponent this fall, among them Democratic incumbents Harold V. Jones II, Karlton Howard and Brian Prince.
Anyone who has not registered in Georgia cannot vote early, and voters unsure of their status can check with the Georgia Secretary of State. On Election Day itself, voters must go to their assigned polling place rather than an early voting site.
